Pack

Pack

Pack is an emotionally rich 3D narrative adventure set in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, where a flunked-out former search and rescue dog must brave the rugged landscape to bring her injured human home after a brutal mountain lion attack. Their already tenuous relationship buckles and threatens to collapse under the pressure as along the way the two confront themes of survival, overcoming trauma, and finding belonging in a home worth fighting for.

My Role: Puzzle Designer & Usability Researcher

My Contribution:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research on real-life hiking trails, including the terrain characteristics, ecological environment, and landscape elements. Apply the research results to the game map design to ensure the authenticity of the paths in the game, thereby enhancing player immersion.
  • Establish rules for character-environment interactions, detailing the character’s responses and behaviors in different situations, such as the protagonist’s movement restrictions after a leg injury. Use these guidelines to design the interaction logic between systems.
  • Draw the game maps, including key points of interest (POIs) such as waterfalls, caves, and lookout points, as well as other landscape and environmental elements like rivers, mountains, and forests. Construct the layers and boundaries of the map to create a cohesive and engaging game environment.
